NZ Driving Test Practice Modules

Preparing for the road can feel overwhelming, but our nz driving test practice modules make it easier. Instead of memorising the Road Code in one go, you can study in small, focused lessons. Each module mirrors the real test format, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when it’s time to sit your learners licence.

Why Use NZ Driving Test Practice?

The main reason many people fail the learners test is not because they don’t know the rules — it’s because they haven’t had enough structured practice. By breaking the Road Code into modules, you can practise in short, focused sessions rather than cramming. Each module mirrors the real Class 1 learners test, with 35 questions and a 30-minute time limit.

Our quizzes provide instant feedback, highlight weak areas, and give you the chance to repeat until you’ve mastered each topic. This step-by-step method means you build both knowledge and test confidence.

Topics in NZ Driving Test Practice

We’ve divided the Road Code into seven focused modules, each designed to target a specific area of knowledge:

Core Rules

The core rules module covers the everyday laws that all drivers must follow, from speed limits and giving way to rules around seatbelts, mobile phone use, and alcohol. These are the foundation of safe driving in New Zealand.

Emergencies

Emergencies can happen at any time. This module teaches you how to respond to crashes, vehicle breakdowns, and hazards like skids or engine failure. It also covers what to do if you see emergency vehicles and how to keep yourself and others safe.

Parking

Parking mistakes are common, so this module focuses on legal parking laws in New Zealand. You’ll learn about time limits, parking meters, loading zones, and restrictions like bus stops, mobility spaces, and driveways.

Road Position

Good road positioning helps prevent accidents. This module teaches you how to use lanes correctly, how to keep safe following distances, and the rules for overtaking. You’ll also learn how to position your car for turning and merging.

Signs

New Zealand has hundreds of road signs, and the learners test expects you to recognise all of them. This module is a complete sign review, from warning and regulatory signs to information signs. Practise until you know them by sight.

Behaviour

Safe driving isn’t just about rules — it’s also about behaviour. This module covers defensive driving, sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians, and being aware of how fatigue, distractions, and alcohol affect your ability to drive.

Intersections

Intersections are one of the most challenging parts of the test. This module covers traffic lights, roundabouts, T-intersections, and unmarked crossings. You’ll learn the correct give-way rules and practise applying them in different scenarios.

How Our NZ Driving Test Practice Works

When you start a quiz, you’ll see a set of 35 questions with a 30-minute countdown timer. This is the same format used in the actual learners test. Each time you answer a question, you’ll know immediately whether you were right or wrong, and you’ll see an explanation.

The more you practise, the more familiar the Road Code becomes. By the time you book your learners licence, you’ll already feel comfortable with the question style and timing.
